We have 11 pupils in the class, 8 boys and 3 girls.
Our focus this term is our school CARES values - Community, ambition, respect, excitement and safety. Pupils will be encouraged to develop as individuals developing independent and collaborative working skills.
Well-being is encouraged through Thrive based activities throughout the week. Life and learning skills are developed throughout the week within the six areas of the curriculum - Mathematics and Numeracy, Languages Literacy and Communication, Science and Technology, Humanities and R.V.E ( Religion, Values and Ethics), Health and Well-Being and Expressive Arts . Certain Langland pupils also attend additional groups such as Film skills, WJEC Art, WJEC P.E., Production design, Construction and Duke of Edinburgh.
On Monday the pupils develop their Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Competence skills. After school some of our pupils attend the residential unit to develop independence, communication and life skills.
Each Tuesday the pupils have a cookery lesson developing life skills and also develop Literacy and Numeracy skills.
On Wednesday the class enjoy Expressive Art skills . Also on a Wednesday the pupils develop their understanding of occupations and the related skills. During the year the pupils will have the opportunity to meet visitors from various professions and also go out of school where appropriate on work experience. After school on Wednesday pupils are invited to attend an extra P.E. session with Mr Weaver which finishes at 4.45 p.m. Parents will need to let staff and transport know if your child attends this group and collect your child at the end of the session.
Thursday is our Health and Well-Being day. Within this day pupils take part in activities of their choosing such as swimming, P.E., Rebound, Dance, Touch Trust ( Music), a walk or a visit to the gym.
Each Friday we have our Champion assembly. One of our Langland pupils is awarded a certificate for excellent work, behaviour or something special they have done for others. The pupils are awarded Dojo points throughout the week for effort, achievement and behaviour. On a Friday photos taken from the week will be shared on Class story. Parents and guardians are very welcome to message staff via Dojo and class staff will send regular messages to keep families updated with school information and events.
All sixth form pupils have the opportunity to join the choir or learn to play an instrument such as the guitar, ukulele or melodica. Some of the Langland pupils participate in these activities.
