Well done to our fabulous stars of the week in Lower School.
Something exciting happened today. When we came into school the construction zone that appeared on Friday had disappeared and in it's place was an elf's playground! Hiding in the corner by our classroom was an elf, sitting on a swing!
Our annual Christmas Fayre is to take place on 7th December 2017 at 5.30 in the upper school hall.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Bobbi Brown Debenhams Swansea
Dosbarth Three Cliffs have taken part in Operation Christmas Child, sending shoeboxes full of gifts to children around the world. We learnt about Operation Christmas Child, wrote a list of things we wanted to include in our boxes and then went shopping to buy the gifts. With contributions from parents and staff, we were able to fill 4 shoeboxes. Thank you to all who contributed.
This year we have the opportunity to take part in the STF football tournament. 2 of our pupils - Logan and Lewey - played in the most recent group matches which we won. We beat Clase 6-1 and Clwyd 6-0. The children really enjoyed taking part in the football matches and will be taking part in football training sessions on a weekly basis in School.
Some of our pupils now have access to the fabulous facilities at Morriston Comprehensive and the fantastic teacher Mrs Johnson.
We are learning about plaiting, brushing and decorating hair as well as how a hairdresser should look and present in the role.
We are really enjoying it. We even have new tunics so we really feel like real hairdressing students!

For Roald Dahl week we looked at the story of 'James and the Giant Peach'. We read a few chapters every day and did lots of different activities based around the book. On the last day of the week we all dressed up as characters from the book, watched the film with popcorn and had a party in the afternoon. We had so much fun!
This week we celebrated Dr Seuss' Birthday by having a Dr Seuss themed day in class. We dressed up as different characters from his books and took part in lots of fun activities. We filled balloons with paint then threw them at a giant 'Thing 1' to burst and make his hair blue, we made Cat in the Hat pizzas and Thing 1/2 cakes, we made green eggs in science and watched them fizz over as well as lots of crafts, counting, instruction and colour matching games. We also did a Dr Seuss themed sensology where we played with green eggs, tasted ham and smelt fish.
Our Welsh Heritage Project.
To celebrate 'Love Week' we had a special Beauty and the Beast themed day consisting of a rich task to find the different Beauty and the Beast characters that were hiding in different feely boxes, tasting and smelling different items linked to the story/tea party. We had lots of fun matching these to our clues in our investigation books. We did lots of different literacy, numeracy, art and science activities linked to Beauty and the Beast throughout the day, then ended with a Beauty and the Beast tea party where we had a special visit from Princess Belle (from Fairytale Moments) who came to our party, read us a story and had photos taken with us. We all had a magical day!
The pupils were asked by Scotland yard to be Secret Agents for the day to solve a terrible crime! Frankenstein had been poisoned right here in our classroom. The pupils had to examine and decode all the evidence to find the culprit.
For Roald Dahl week, we read George's Marvellous Medicine. We had lots of fun describing Grandma, measuring to get the correct amount in the medicine and mixing colours to make the medicine brown to trick Grandma.
This week was Welsh Week. We had a Welsh World Book Day and a Sporty Swansea sports day for our Welsh Hertiage project. The book we looked at was St Dabid's Day is Cancelled by Wendy White.
The police and fire service came to talk to us about keeping safe. We had great fun trying on the different uniforms
Our visits to Porthcawl
A few of the Pupils from Pen y Bryn were lucky enough to attend Heart Radio in Cardiff to receive a cheque for the Local Aid Charity.
We wanted to incorporate the Royal Wedding into our learning but in a more appropriate and hands-on way for our students to be able to get the most from the experience. We are over the moon to announce that thanks to some AMAZING people and businesses in our community we were able to have our very own 'Royal Wedding' with Millie and Logan getting married at Manor Park, Clydach.
